Welcome! The Surf Lab (SURFace Processes Lab) at the Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island uses a combination of theory, numerics, laboratory and field techniques to learn more about the physics of our oceans and atmosphere, as well as their coupling. The group is led by Assistant Professor of Oceanography, Nick Pizzo

We are recruiting graduate students and postdocs! Our interests are in the fluid mechanics of the ocean and atmosphere. Lately, we have been examining fluids from a Lagrangian perspective and have been trying to employ geometric methods when working on these problems. In general, we have a broad interest in better understanding the physics of the air and sea with the goal of improved interpretation and understanding of observations. If these ideas sound interesting to you please send us an email (nicholas.pizzo - at - uri.edu) describing your research interests, relevant experience and your CV!
